WinWin - New beginning

The economic prospects look bleak, especially for young people from Morocco's urban peripheries. The WinWin - New Beginnings project enables them to strengthen their prospects and self-confidence. They are supported in finding a job or setting up a small business

Precarious employment and income instability are among the main concerns of Moroccan society. Only around half of 25 to 35-year-olds have a job, mostly in the informal sector. Many young people drop out of school and are barely able to escape poverty. In recent years, several projects have been launched and funded to overcome inequalities of opportunity. However, development is slow and the social systems that have been introduced are far from reaching everyone.

What is it about?

Young adults who have experienced social and economic exclusion become competent actors who work for social change in their communities and make a contribution to combating poverty and promoting gender equality. The WinWin - New Beginnings project supports disadvantaged young people and young adults in finding employment, completing an apprenticeship or setting up their own business. Most of the project participants come from an educationally disadvantaged background and find themselves in difficult life situations. The project accompanies them on their journey and strengthens their personal, professional and social skills.

What do we do?

Through individualised coaching, the project participants can be met where they are and their respective needs can be taken into account. To strengthen everyday skills and self-esteem, the project also promotes community involvement as well as sporting and cultural activities. The mutual support and empowerment of the project participants is also important for their development. Many of the young people experience a supportive environment for the first time, which encourages them in their ambitions. The aim of the project is the social and economic inclusion of young people. It is aimed at adolescents and young people between the ages of 18 and 30 from disadvantaged neighbourhoods in Rabat. At least half of the participants are women.

What are the objectives of the project?

• Strengthening social and everyday skills

What is actually carried out?

• Sports and cultural activities to strengthen communication and social skills

• Introductory courses for young entrepreneurs on various aspects of setting up and running a business

• Practical courses and internship opportunities in various professions

• Coaching (individual and in groups) during the process

• Supporting young people in their search for permanent employment in a company
