Mira - Compass

Many migrant women have good training and qualifications. Due to structural barriers and a lack of information, they are often unable to realise their potential. They find it difficult to find a job in their profession. The "Mira - Kompass" project strengthens the economic, social and political participation of women with migration experience. 

In the "Mira - Kompass" project, workshops and further training courses convey the social and economic context of care work. The project participants learn about important legal principles and the problems of structural discrimination. They are able to situate their own economic and social situation in this overall social context. In addition, the participants acquire knowledge and establish networks to facilitate their (re-)entry into the Swiss labour market.

The participants learn and work together for ten months. Based on a needs- and resource-orientated approach, they develop an individual assessment of their current situation. They network with the peer group and with key people from politics, business and society. By participating in the project, they receive information and contacts that support them in (re)entering the world of work. Together, they develop a participatory practical project and create spaces for reflection on a social policy that is orientated towards the participation of all. In this way, "Mira - Kompass" also serves as a platform for the participants to develop political demands.

Sensitisation of employers 

Women with migration experience individual and structural discrimination in society and the world of work. Frieda sensitises institutions and employers to migration, integration and employment in order to reduce the exclusion and disqualification of migrant women and to break down barriers in the long term.
